The first meeting of foreign ministers within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, which was launched at a summit in Prague in May 2009, was held on 8 December. The EU foreign ministers met with the foreign ministers from the six eastern European countries involved in the Eastern Partnership: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The European Parliament, European Economic and Social Committee, European Investment Bank (EIB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Committee of the Regions also taked part in the meeting. The aim of the meeting is to discuss the implementation of the Eastern Partnership so far, and the way forward. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt.
