Despite security fears and threats from the Taliban, million of Afghans turned up at the polls on September 18th 2010, to take part in the country's parliamentary elections. Among the huge number of candidates, the NATOChannel.tv follows three of them: Shinkai KAROKHAIL, defending women's right. She's the only women running for parliament in Kabul Province's toughest district of Surobi, where she believes reaching out to local people can make a difference in her campaign re-election. Haroun MIR, is a candidate standing for Kabul in the parliamentary elections. He used to be one of Ahmad Sha Massoud's men, the leader of the Northern Alliance who was assassinated two days before the September 11th attacks. During the civil war in the nineties, Haroun MIR was sent to the States by Massoud, with a warning about the increasing terrorist threat back home. Robina JALALI, is a former sprinter who's represented Afghanistan in two olympic games. Now she's taking on a new challenge, vying for a place in the country's political area.
