The EU patent that had been discussed for the last 30 years. 12 member states will use the enhanced cooperation (possible since Lisbon Treaty) to bring forward the EU Patent. One main positive aspect is that the costs should become less, at the moment an EU patent costs around 18.000, much higher what is practiced in the USA and in Japan.
