Background

On Wednesday 10 October, the Council holds public deliberations on two legislative proposals which are part of “Horizon 2020”, the future framework programme for funding research and innovation for the years 2014 to 2020. These two pieces are: the rules for the participation and dissemination in Horizon 2020 and the amended regulation of the establishment of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). The Council debates also on research infrastructures in Europe, an orientation debate on the strategic steps to be followed towards the completion of the European Research Area, on the basis of recommendations addressed by the Commission last July.
